Just one match tomorrow, but a vitally important one nevertheless for the club.
Steve Wilson’s 2nd XV will complete what has been a turbulent season with a home fixture against Chippenham at Minety Fields with a 3pm kick off. The fixture was originally scheduled for 6th April but we were happy to accommodate Chippenham’s request for a change of date to allow a number of their players (and ours) to attend the big match at Twickenham between Bath and Bristol on the 6th.
Minety’s Division 3 campaign has been a difficult one this year. Two teams have already had their results “expunged” (yes, it’s still a word) this season. Both Supermarine and Melksham have dropped out of the league after conceding more matches through lack of playing resources than the league rules allow.
Minety are within one fixture of also breaching the 25% concession rule and find themselves adrift at the bottom of the table after points gained earlier in the season against the two dropped teams were removed.
Tomorrow the Minety 2nd XV players will take to the field for the last time. Whatever the result (and we hope it’s a home win) the most important aspect will be that the two teams will enjoy a competitive rugby match to end their seasons, hopefully in front of a good crowd of supporters.
The full match report will be on the website on Sunday morning and the camera (singular) of MTV will be on hand to capture the action.
