Both Minety teams are at home of Saturday 14th March, the 1st XV hoping that they can get their match against Frome completed at the 3rd time of asking, while the 2nd XV host Bath Saracens in D&W3N.
Certainly coach James Irving and captain Andrew Hibbard will be looking for a win against 5th placed Frome, in a match that has already been called off twice because of waterlogged surfaces at Minety. Results last weekend did Minety few favours as they endeavour to clamber free of the dreaded relegation zone with the season rushing to a conclusion. Marlborough’s heavy defeat of Calne gained them maximum points and brings them level with Minety on 31 points. Chippenham, who travel to 2nd placed Melksham, are one point clear, while 8th placed Calne do not have a fixture, having played one more match than the teams below them.
A win for Minety could, if results go their way, propel them up as far as 8th place with just 4 matches of the season to go.
In D&W3N Steve Wilson’s team take on top of the table Bath Saracens. The Bath team sit on 46 points from their 11 matches and are currently 13 points clear of Cricklade, in 2nd place.
Minety find themselves down in 6th place in a league of just 8 teams but are a long way clear of the basement clubs, Swindon and Bradford on Avon. A win will not improve their position but will match the record of Royal Wootton Bassett, who sit above them, 15 points clear. The three concessions that Minety have endured have cost them 15 points and a top 5 finish.
News on both matches will appear on the site on Sunday and the camera of Bustard Production / MTV will capture the action against Frome, with highlights on the site from 9am on Wednesday morning.
