Senior Vase Final

It’s the big one! This weekend Minety plays arguably its biggest match of the season as the team travels to Salisbury RFC to play Christchurch’s Dorset Dockers in the Final of the Dorset and Wilts Vase.

The match is being played at Salisbury’s rugby ground (Castle Road, Salisbury SP1 3SA for those not travelling on the coach).

Minety last won the vase in 2015 at Warminster’s ground in a tight and even contest against Lytchett Minster when Andrew Hibbard’s charge down and subsequent try saw Minety home with minutes to spare.

This year’s opponents, the Dorset Dockeers, look to be formidable opposition. They currently sit 2nd in D&W1 South having won 6 of their 7 league matches this season, scoring 371 points while conceding just 116. They are in a rich vein of form at the moment; in their last 3 matches they have defeated Bridport 119-12 and Blandford 70-22 at home with a 46-8 win at Wimbourne in between.

Tom Claxton’s 1st XV will have to be on their best form if they are to capture the trophy. A full match report will appear on the website on Sunday morning.
