Both Minety teams are in action this coming Saturday with the 1st XV taking on Melksham at Minety Fields whilst the 2nd XV travel to Swindon in the Dorset and Wilts Division 3 North clash.
The 1st XV will be eager to build upon their tremendous victory at Devizes last Saturday where they came away with a 79-0 win to keep them in second place in the table, just six points behind the league leaders Combe Down.
But Andy Ward and his team know that Melksham pose one of the greatest threats in the second half of the season. The visitors are just one point behind Minety in Dorset and Wilts Division 1 North, having played 13 matches and accrued 47 points. They are unbeaten in 2016, their last loss being in a match against Combe Down back in December. The home team will be looking to avenge a narrow 9-6 defeat earlier in the season. The loss at Melksham on 24 October was the last time that Minety tasted league defeat and Andrew Hibbard’s team will be going all out for victory, subject to the pitch being passed as playable after an early-morning inspection.
The 2nd XV travel to Swindon in D&W3N keen to come away with a win and cement their hold on 4th place in the league table. The Swindon team lie just one point behind Minety, having played on fewer fixture. After a fine 62-5 victory over Devizes, Swindon were on the wrong side of a 68-7 scoreline against Chippenham last week.
The last time that the two teams met was on the 24th October when Minety won by 29-14 at Minety Fields.
