Saturday 20th February

Both Minety teams will be in action this coming Saturday (subject to a pitch inspection at Minety) with the 1st XV involved in a promotion tussle with Royal Wootton Bassett and the 2nds in a Division 3 North home clash with Warminster IIs.

The 1st XV will be looking to put their season back on track after the shock reversal in their home fixture (played at Trowbridge after the Minety Fields pitch failed another inspection) against the struggling Trowbridge II’s last weekend.  The loss has left Minety holding on to 2nd place in the league, but now by just a single point, with Bassett, Melksham and Corsham hot on their heels. The loss at Trowbridge was the first reversal in the league since their loss at Melksham back in October.

Bassett have won their last three league matches at Swindon and Melksham and at home over Devizes.  Since their defeat in the mud at Minety earlier in the season, Bassett have won 7 matches and lost just one.

The 2nd XV entertain Warminster II’s subject to a Saturday morning pitch inspection at Minety Fields.  The home side have dropped to 7th in Division 3 North having won 6 of their 15 league fixtures thus far. After losses at Bassett and Swindon recently, Minety 2nds will be hopeful that the pitches are judged safe tomorrow; they have not played a home match since 19th December!

Warminster find themselves two places above Minety with 36 points gleaned from their 17 matches, including two draws. Their recent form has been very inconsistent with a loss at Melksham, a win over Alfred’s Nomads and a draw at Corsham.

Both matches kick off at 2.30pm.
