Saturday 2 February 2013

Weeks of rain and snow have turned the playing surface at the Nigel Bishop Memorial Ground into a slippery quagmire of oozing mud… There’s a chill wind blowing and it’s as cold as the tip of an Eskimo’s nose out there… Welcome to February in Minety!

And, for the first time since early September, both Minety’s senior teams won on Saturday.

The firsts beat Bradford-on-Avon 10-5 in an all-out 30 man mud festival while the seconds overwhelmed Supermarine thirds 53-7.

Details of both games are now in the Match Reports section, along with accounts of the previous week’s away fixtures against Marlborough and Pewsey Vale.

There’s also great coverage of Saturday’s games in this week’s edition of The Wilts & Glos Standard. Stories and photos of both firsts and seconds. The website report on the first team game is entitled “Muddy marvels Minety grind out gutsy win” while the seconds’ story is labelled “Minety show no mercy”.

Both Minety teams play at home again this Saturday. The firsts welcome Devizes II while the seconds play their counterparts from Warminster. Kick-offs at 2.30 pm
