Both Minety teams will be playing away from home this Saturday.
The 1st XV travel to Trowbridge thankful that the Trowbridge club had agreed to switch the fixture away from the waterlogged Minety Fields pitches. With so many matches postponed during the season thus far, Minety could ill do with another match to fit in, if and when the Minety pitches become playable.
The match at Trowbridge will be Minety’s first outing since their 79-0 win at Devizes on 23rd January. Currently in 2nd place in the league, having played 12 and won 10 of them, Minety have 48 points but have now slipped a massive 16 points behind league leaders, the undefeated Combe Down side who have accrued 64 points in a season that has seen them take wins in all of their matches and only fail to pick up try bonus points in two. With Melksham snapping at Minety’s heals, just one point back on 47 points, Minety will be looking for a good win at Trowbridge to cement their league position.
Trowbridge IIs currently lie 9th in the table with 3 wins from their 14 matches thus far. After a win over Devizes at the start of January and a follow up victory at Chippenham, they have slipped recently, losing to Melksham heavily and then surprisingly beaten by an odd point against Colerne.
Minety II’s travel to Royal Wootton Bassett for their Dorset and Wilts Division 3 encounter, 5th in the table with 6 wins and 8 defeats. They will be looking to recover from the disappointment of the loss at Swindon on the 30th January and to avenge the 43-0 humbling at the hands of RWB at Minety on 7th November 2015.
Bassett are 2nd in the table having lost just one of their 13 league fixtures. Unbeaten since a 19-8 reverse at Chippenham on the 19th December, they piled up 100 points in their last league match, against Devizes.
