Minety’s march up Dorset and Wilts Division 1 continued with a dogged if rather unspectacular vistory over Supermarine on Saturday. The home side won by 20-3, and are un beaten in the league since mid November. The 3 points they conceded were the first they have let an opposition have since Melksham’s last gasp equalising score back in December. Of more note is the fact that Minety have now leapfrogged Warminster and now sit in 4th place.
Combe Down’s fixture with Pewsey was postponed, presumably because of pitch conditions, and Minety travel there next week. The surprise result of the day was Warminster’s loss at Royal Wotton Bassett. Bradford go top of the table with a bonus point winning victory over Melksham while newly promoted Avonvale keep up the pressure at the top with a fine 43-0 win at Swindon. Chippenham’s revival continues with a good win over Trowbridge.
In Dorset and Wilts Division 3, MInety’s 10-0 loss at home to a fast rising Chippenham side sees them slip to 7th in the table.
With leaders Corsham not playing, it was a chance for the pursuing pack to make up ground. Warminster made hard work of beating Swindon. At the other end of the table, bottom side Devizes drew with 2nd from bottom Melksham.
