The bleak weather on Saturday was mirrored by results (or lack of them) in Division 1 and 3 this weekend.
Minety’s hammering at home (well, at Bassett) was only ameliorated by Pewsey Vale’s heavy loss at Trowbridge. Warminster’s HWO over bottom club Swindon has put them above Minety into 4th place. Tom Claxton will be leading his men out next Saturday at Chippenham knowing that a win is essential if they are to overtake Warminster and try to close the gap to Avonvale.
In Division 3 North Melksham conceded their match away at Minety (well, at Bassett) which measn that Matt Stone’s team have accrued 10 points in thne last two Saturday’s without having to kick a ball.
Next Saturday Matt will take his team to struggling Supermarine, who were on the wrong side of a bit of a battering at Warminster.
As the season reaches its climax (or nadir) it looks as if the best that the 1st team can achieve is 4th place while the 2nds have a chance at a top 5 place.
MTV will be back on Wednesday with the distinctly “X” rated match against Bradford on Saturday. Those of a delicate disposition may choose to avoid watching!
