Results from last weekend

The matches played (or in the case of the 2nd XV, awarded) on Saturday 16th December mark the half way spot in the season.

Certainly Minety would have hoped to have got more than just one point from their match with Melksham.  With the two teams above them losing, Tom Claxton’s team could have bridged the gap to the top group with a win but must now concentrate on putting a good run of wins together at the resumption of league action in January.

With Combe Down and Bradford winning, a gap is beginning to appear to 3rd and 4th.  Pewsey’s comprehensive win over Warminster was perhaps the stand out result of the weekend.

Devizes were unable to raise a team for the match at Minety so the home team were awarded an “HWO” (Home Walk Over) and maximum points.  The result helps Matt Stone’s team close the gap on both Trowrbridge and Chippenham above them, both of whom lost.

Bath Saracens have enjoyed a strong end to the first half of the season while Corsham appear to be unstoppable at the top.

The next match for Minety is the 1st XV against Warminster at Minety Fields on Saturday 13th January.  The 2nd XV aren’t in action until the following Saturday (20th) when they travel to Trowbridge while the 1st XV make the short trip up the road to Wootton Bassett.
