David Coughlan, who used to play for Minety a few years ago before he returned to Ireland, got in touch recently to let us know what he’s been up to of late.
David coughlan here. First, let me wish you the best for your season ahead. Second, I thought I’d let you know that about three months ago I became involved as forwards coach (head coach) with a new team in Thomastown Co Kilkenny (for my good or bad fortune, I am not sure which yet!). Our name is Normans RFC and we are playing in Leinster south division three. Our first league match was on Sunday last. Not a good result but little acorns will grow… You can check us out on Facebook under our club name. I would also like to take this opportunity to invite Minety over for a tour any time in the future. Nigel has my contact numbers. Again, good luck for the season and pass on our best wishes to your captain. I hope he has a speedy recovery. Regards, David & Suzanne Coughlan
In case anyone has forgotten what Dave Coughlan looks like, Nigel found these two photos on the Normans RFC Facebook page. Good to see that Dave’s left-handed “southpaw” drinking technique is still sound. That’s also him in the red shirt on the right of the back row in the Normans RFC team photo.
