Saturday 8 January 2011
Dorset & Wilts Division 3 North
One-sided
Minety 2nd XV 3 pts – Swindon 3rd XV 39 pts
Minety seconds lost their first league game of the season, going down heavily against a surprisingly strong Swindon third team.
Minety battled resolutely but were unable to contain their opponents.
Having beaten Swindon thirds earlier in the season, and as the Swindon 2nd XV were without a fixture, many of the Minety players became convinced that the team they were facing had been augmented with second team recruits.
Be that as it may, Swindon ran in tries at regular intervals all afternoon, while their hosts’ only contribution to the score line was a penalty goal from Tim Vaughan in the first half.
This Saturday, Minety seconds travel to play Calne seconds.
