Minety 2nd XV v Colerne

17 December 2011

The French connection

Dorset & Wilts Division 3 North

Minety 2nd XV 29pts – Colerne 12pts

Former Minety lock Olivier Brassat travelled all the way from Lyon to rejoin his old club for a Christmas game of rugby.

And what a smashing game it was. The home side were on excellent form and though Colerne scored and converted the opening try, the rest of the match belonged to Minety. Tries from Tom Windle, Brendon Rice and James Pate, plus two conversions from Tim Vaughan, made it 19-7 at the interval.

A second half try from Vaughan and another from skipper Steve Murray capped a splendid win for Minety that was marred only by a suspected broken ankle for Matt Park.

A consolation try for Colerne came too late to alter the course of proceedings.
