The Minety 1st XV have brand new shirts this season thanks to the generous sponsorship of the George Veterinary Group.
The Group, which has small animal clinics in Malmesbury, Tetbury and Wootton Bassett, an equine clinic in Garsdon and a farm team covering Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Bristol, sent vets Cyril Hayes, Fran Baird and Richard Pearson to present the shirts to Minety captain Jack Ward before Saturday’s opening league game against Wootton Bassett 2.
Minety went on to win the match 48-15.
“The new shirts are great,” enthused Ward after the game.
“They’ve got the traditional Minety colours of green and purple but in a thoroughly modern design. New kit is expensive so we’re hugely grateful to the George Veterinary Group for kindly providing them for us.”
“The George Vet Group are delighted to sponsor Minety Rugby Club,” Fran Baird commented later.
“It was fantastic to see such a good performance in the opening game of the season, with a try scored by one of our cattle vets – Mr Ian Illingworth. We look forward to some further excellent performances from the young squad this season.”
