It’s the last week before the summer break, but there’s still plenty going on.
First, big congratulations to Minety Academy’s Amelia Buckland-Hurry, who has had a trial for the England women’s U20 squad this weekend. As Cliff Garland comments:
Academy U18s member Amelia Buckland-Hurry was invited to trial for the U20s England squad this weekend. Its now an anxious wait until until the squad is announced later in the month. Amelia, who has been with the club for 6 years, has been a regular member of the County and Regional U18 teams but this season broke into Divisional Rugby for the first time. This is a brilliant honour not only for her but also for the club and the girls who play alongside her.
Meanwhile, 17 young Minety players have taken the first step on the coaching ladder. Go to the Youth Match Reports section for a photo and full story.
As if that wasn’t enough, Andy Edwards is now challenging the Press Officer’s claim that Minety won the sevens tournament for “the first time in living memory” this year. See Edwards’ controversial claim and photo of Minety’s winning sevens team at the 2006 tournament in the In Other News… section.
Finally, don’t forget it’s the AGM this Wednesday, 11 May 2011, at 8.00 pm at the Club House, followed on Friday, 13 May 2011, by the Minety RFC 40th Anniversary Summer Ball.
