There may have been no matches on Saturday but that didn’t let Minety RFC ignore the chance for a social event … and Gandhi’s Revenge was another huge success.
Over 70 people gathered in the club house during the afternoon to watch the France v. Scotland match (including Duncan, resplendant in a Scotland shirt, a kilt, a pair of socks and not a lot else, as some of us can unfortunately testify (my wife is still in a state of deep shock).
Crowds gathered for the Wales versus England match. We wont go into the gory details of the second half collapse but it is true to say that our Celtic bretheren were in fine spirits come the end of the match, as can be seen from the glamorous fivesome above.
Even the artistic talents of Chloe Stead couldn’t bring a smile to the sad visage of our club captain Tom Claxton.
But the food was magnificent – a veritable feast of all that is good from the sub continent.
Many thanks must go out to the organiser, Dave Peirce, for putting the whole event together and harrassing (in the nicest possible way) everyone to get tickets and then pay up.
Thanks also to Jane Asty and Trudie Clarkson for looking after the finances; to Andrew O’Dell who worked tirelessly behind the bar to keep the drinks flowing; and to the washer uppers (they know who they are) who helped clear it all up at the end.
A brilliant night (just a shame about “that” result!)
Next week we are off to Chippenham for the 1st XV while the 2nd XV host Amesbury, who made us so welcome when we visited their ground earlier in the season.
