Frome match re-arranged and results from the league

The England Rugby website is showing that yesterday’s postponed fixture at home to Frome has been re-scheduled for next Saturday, 22nd February.

Minety’s match was, surprisingly, the only one to succumb to the weather. As a consequence, other teams at the bottom end of the league table too advantage to improve their league standings as we get to the sharp end of the season.

Trowbridge’s bonus poiunt win against basement club Bradford saw them leap above Minety and up into 7th place while Calne closed the gap to Minety with what could be a very important win over fellow strugglers Chippenham, who are just two points ahead of Minety having played a game more.

Elsewhere, Avonvale tightened their grip on the title with a narrow win over 11th placed Marlborough while Melksham increased the gap over Royal Wootton Bassett with a tight win at Ballards Ash.

Perhaps the surprise result of the day came at Warminster where fast improving Sutton Benger cruised to a 33 – 10 over the 6th placed home team.
