Never give up!
Fairford 24 pts – Minety 2nd XV 6 pts
A strong Fairford side came out clear winners in this game, but Minety seconds fought on to the last.
Fielding several recruits who had come up through the Minety youth rugby programme, the visitors started slowly and were already 18-3 down by half-time.
Minety perked up in the second half, making life extremely difficult for the home side and severely limiting their further scoring opportunities.
Minety’s points came from two penalty goals by Andy Edwards, while young recruits Lloyd and Joe both gave good accounts of themselves.
Minety seconds lost the game, but felt that they’d deserved the opposition’s grudging praise: “You lot never give up, do you. You don’t know when you’re beaten!”
This Saturday, the Minety 2nd XV play at home against their counterparts from Melksham.
