4 days to go to the start of Minety’s pre season, with the Dorset and Wilts season just 10 days hence.
On Saturday 1st September a Minety team travel to Cricklade to take on the local team in a pre season challenge. Coach Andy Grayson will be taking a mixed team made up of 1sts and 2nd XV players and will hope to use the match to assess fitness levels across the squad as he gears up to the 2018 / 2019 Dorset and Wilts league campaigns in both Division 1 and Division 3.
Training thus far has been very promising, with good numbers out for the Tuesday evening sessions.
There was another great preseason training session last night and really good preparation for the preseason fixture at the weekend.
Numbers have been good so far with enough numbers last night to put out two packs and have a proper scrum session.
With one preseason game and one training session to go until the first league game of the season there is still time to get involved. Whether you be new to Rugby or a returning player Minety are looking to welcome players of all abilities to the Club.

The 1st XV get their league campaign underway with a tricky away fixture at Warminster on 8th September. Warminster always start the season strongly and will certainly be up with the front runners for the league come the end of the season. Last season Minety narrowly edged 4th place in the league in front of Warminster, the two teams enjoying identical results (won 13, Drew 1 and Lost 8) but Minety gained an extra 4 try bonus point. The village team started their 2017/8 campaign at Warminster with a 31-22 loss in a match that was very much made up of “2 halves”. Warminster dominated the first half, and there were those on the sidelines who feared a real drubbing after 30 minutes, but Minety fought back in the second to close the gap with great tries from Elis Garland and Tom Claxton.
Minety extracted revenge on Warminster at Minety Fields in January with a convincing 32-0 victory, perhaps their most dominant performance of the season.
Minety 2nds start their Division 3 season on the 8th September when they entertain Chippenham whilst the 1st XV take on Wootton Bassett at home.
