Chairman’s July update

TRAINING

There has been a return to training under Covid regulations at Minety Playing fields on Tuesday evenings 6.30-8pm.

Groups of 6 players train together, taking part in socially distanced activities, which have been concentrated on strength and conditioning. Special thanks must go to Dave Cooke for organising the sessions. Hopefully regulations will be eased in the near future which will allow more rugby to be played. New and returning players are always welcome

SOCIAL

The annual Minety Rugby Club golf day took place on Saturday 25th July at Oaksey Park Golf Club. The competition was in the format of a 2 ball Texas scramble, played for the Minety trophy which was crafted by Duncan Simpson. 19 players, past and present, took part. The day was plagued by persistent and heavy rain and eventually everyone decided that the bar was a happier place to be and consequently only the scores over the 1st 9 holes were counted. . Winners were Andrew and Charles Grayson. Many thanks to James Stuart for organising.

COMMITTEE

Committee meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month beginning at 7pm.

Thank you to all the retiring members of the committee, and welcome to the new.

All members of the club are welcome to attend meetings. Anyone who would like to get involved please email chairman Andy Grayson andrew.grayson@live.co.uk

FACILITIES

The new tractor has arrived, much to J B’s pleasure. This was purchased jointly by the rugby club with the MPFA and will I am sure make the job of pitch cutting much easier.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Matt and Kerry Roberts and to Ben Collins & Ali Freeman. Both couples have recently had baby girls.

Congratulations to new club captain Ben Scott on his marriage to Lorna.
