Calne 2nd XV v Minety 2nd XV

Saturday 21 September 2013

Dorset & Wilts Division 3

Dream performance from the Dreamers

Calne 2nd XV 5pts – Minety 2nd XV 53pts

Minety’s second team, the Dreamers, cut loose away against Calne.

Communicating well and tackling with great commitment, the Minety pack set up this win, dominating the scrum and taking charge at the breakdown. Enjoying a steady supply of ball, the backs ran free, clocking up 31 points by the end of the first half.

Minety flyhalf Will Howse was in fine form, running in a brace of tries and kicking two conversions before having to leave the field with a hamstring injury.

Calne rallied after the break and camped in Minety’s 22. The visitors defended well but the hosts eventually powered over for a try, their only points of the match.

After that, the Minety pack got going again and with their threequarters running good lines of attack, the visitors were soon racking up the points again. Replacement flyhalf Andy Edwards scored a try and two conversions, and there were also tries for Tim Vaughan, Rich Garbett, Dellam Murray, Nick Jones and Milo Hartley.
